Isaac Fitzmorris | Thompson’s Station, Tennessee Photographer

October 4, 2017 | Leave a Comment

One look at this adorable family, sitting peacefully by the creek, may have you day-dreaming of your own family photos. I consider it a privilege to capture families in photos that fully show their love for one another. Isaac is so blessed to have parents Joshua and Jensine to love and care for them with their whole hearts!

What these photos do not capture is the chaotic process that happened in order for him to be here today. In some of these photos you will see a rainbow implemented. This is because Isaac is a rainbow baby, or in other words, Isaac is a baby that came after a previous loss. As described by The Bump,  a “rainbow baby does not mean that your loss should be forgotten; such a devastating loss can never be forgotten. Rather, your rainbow baby will carry the torch of the love you will always have for the child you lost, and when you hold that precious baby in your arms, you will fully understand the meaning of the term.”

There is a rainbow of hope at the end of every storm.

Not only is Isaac a rainbow baby, but he came much earlier than anticipated due to complications with Jensine’s pregnancy. We had actually originally planned maternity photos for Jensine, but Isaac had other plans! I asked Jensine to tell me more about this part of Isaac’s story.

The Hobbs’ Pregnancy Announcement | Franklin, Indiana

September 22, 2017 | Leave a Comment

Olivia and Jeremy are going to have a baby!! I’m so excited for these two!

Olivia reached out to me over Facebook messenger to find out when I’d be in Indiana next and if I would be able to take some photos for them. When she told me the reason why they needed photos, I was sooooo excited! Keeping this secret from the rest of the family (Olivia is my cousin!), has definitely not been easy. So if you’re reading this, Mom, I’m sorry I told you Olivia and Jeremy wanted some photos “just because!”

Waterfall Engagement Session | Nashville, Tennessee Photographer

September 6, 2017 | 3 Comments

Janessa and I go way back – all the way back to 2008. We’ve truly been friends since the moment we first met. So when she started talking about her dream of having engagement photos at a waterfall, I couldn’t help but jump in with suggestions. It’s no secret that Tennessee has some of the most beautiful waterfalls around!

After extensive research, we settled on Carmac Falls at Evins Mill (please note this is private property and you will need to contact the linked venue 24 hours in advance for permission to access the falls). The waterfall is gorgeous and the lure of having basically a private waterfall (for a fee, of course) was too good to pass down. Of course, there was a bit of hike to get to the falls. I, for one, was not prepared for how physically demanding that hike would be (…or maybe I’m just out of shape.)

Williamson County Fair Couples Session | Franklin, Tennessee Photographer

August 29, 2017 | Leave a Comment

A few months ago, Steph had posted in a photography group on Facebook that she would be in Nashville in early August and was looking for someone to exchange a photo session with. I responded, and a beautiful friendship was born. The day we were to meet and take photos finally arrived. We had yet to decide on location, but we had decided to drag our significant others into our shenanigans.

That same week, the Williamson County Fair was going on. It’s basically just down the road from our little house, making it impossible to miss! I had been wanting to create portraits at a county fair for a while, but my attempts were not playing out. I have to give credit to Dan, my husband, for suggesting the fair as the setting for this session. Not only did I finally get to take my fair photos, but we also got some amazing portraits taken of us by Steph/Hazel Lining Photography!

Camille Joy | Franklin, Tennessee Portrait Photographer

Meet Camille, a musician in Nashville, Tennessee with a heart of gold! I met Camille a few years ago at a mutual friend’s bachelorette party (whose recent sunflower maternity session you can see here!) Camille and I had talked about photos a few times over the years, but recently we finally made it happen! I think both of us are so glad we did! The resulting photos perfectly expressed both of our visions!

Sunflower Field Maternity | Nashville, Tennessee Photographer

July 29, 2017 | 3 Comments

Jessica and I go way back. In fact, both of us met our husbands through the same band (shout out to Pioneer for being a band of stellar, quality men!) When my husband and I moved to Tennessee, I found comfort in the fact that Jessica and Josh already resided in Nashville. It’s great to move to an area where you already have friends!

When we found out they were expecting, we were thrilled. When Jessica asked me to be her photographer, I was even MORE excited! Of course I wanted to photograph my beautiful friend with her baby bump!

In a nearby town, Murfreesboro, we found Batey Farms, which just happened to have one last day open for Sunflower sessions! Bright, beautiful flowers to match Jessica’s cheery disposition? Yes please!

Of course I had to include a Brenizer/panoramic photo to capture all the sunflowers!

The Clark Family | Franklin, TN Photographer

July 12, 2017 | 1 Comment

Welcome to the world, Braskey Clark! You may not recognize him here, but I’ve photographed Braskey once before. The baby bump featured in this session was once little baby Braskey. Doesn’t he look so precious in his jeans and suspenders?

Truck-63

Braskey’s little blue blanket bundle (try saying that five times fast) was set on top of an old Chevy truck. This truck has a special meaning though. You see, this truck belonged to his great-grandfather, who also happens to be his namesake. Braskey’s mama, Hope, contacted me to photograph Braskey and crew with this antique truck. Of course a truck this special deserves to have a few photos on its own!

Elaine + Will: Morgan-Monroe Forestry Engagement | Franklin, TN Engagement Photographer

June 30, 2017 | 1 Comment

Originally, Elaine and Will had planned on traveling down to Nashville, Tennessee for their engagement photos. Of course I was perfectly okay with this because it’s local to me! However, when Elaine found out I was traveling up to Indiana for a week, we ended up moving her session up! She’s my favorite kind of client – too excited to wait for her photos!!

We met on a Saturday morning in the Morgan-Monroe Forestry at Bryant Creek Lake. The forestry is one of my favorite locations in my hometown. It seems no matter how many sessions I have here, I always find new areas within the forestry perfect for photos!

Joy + Tim: Bloomington, Indiana Engagement Session

June 25, 2017 | 1 Comment

Home can be a confusing word for me. It can mean “home” as in where I live, or it can also be referring to Indiana. Most of my childhood was spent in Indiana and it’s where my parents currently live. It truly feels like home when I visit, so of course I love when I have clients in Indiana! This photo session was one such occasion.

Joy and Tim wanted their engagement photos to be taken on the Indiana University campus. Joy and I brainstormed tons of ideas over e-mail months before the photo shoot. I love when my clients bring new ideas to the table!

Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-4Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-7

Joy was a leasing tenant when she and Tim first met. They flirted back and forth for months, sometimes for nearly an hour while he was paying his rent! One afternoon Joy went for a stroll in the park and they crossed paths. Kismet!

Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-10Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-12Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-14

We spent the evening much like that “meet cute,” strolling around Indiana University’s campus looking for little nooks to create the perfect, romantic story through their engagement photos. I just love the way their outfits complimented one another’s!

I think every one of my photo sessions I find a way to get my clients super close to trees. In this location we were both next to the tree, and then later inside of the tree! It sure makes for some beautiful photos.

We stopped here briefly because I loved the way the light was looking here!

Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-80

Before Joy changed dresses, we took a few photos in the creeks. If I have couples willing to get in a creek, you better believe I’m going to find a way to make it happen! Luckily IU’s campus has very easily accessible waterways.

Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-84Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-88Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-82

Both Joy and Tim were wearing brand new shoes for this photo session! I had to get a photo of them – so cute!

Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-89

Tim and Joy’s first date was at an outdoor concert at IU’s art museum. Joy had the creative idea to incorporate the light totem outside of the museum in their engagement photos. The installation casts beautiful, moving colors against the limestone museum building. It is almost reminiscent of the Northern Lights!

Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-101Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-105

We also used the dramatic, curving red sculpture for a nice pop of color for some photos outside of the museum. Who doesn’t love a dramatic, leaning kiss?

Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-107Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-108Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-118

You can truly see their love in the way they look at each other. I imagine a love like theirs his hard to hide! It radiates from them!

We ended the evening in a cozy corner with some copper string lights. I took some inspiration from photographer Brandon Woelfel who is known for his use of light strands in photos, but with my own spin. I fashioned a heart out of the wire string and, well, you can see the results! I’m so glad Tim and Joy were on board with this idea, as I’m sure it looked a little crazy from their point of view!

Joy-and-Tim-Engagement-123

I’m very excited for Joy and Tim’s December wedding this year! I can’t wait to see what photo magic we create for their love story.

Ellie & Indy: Puppy Play Date

April 24, 2017 | 2 Comments

This weekend we had the opportunity to do something amazing: have a puppy sleepover! Okay, so neither of the involved parties are actually puppies. They’re both full grown dogs. In my eyes, however, they are both puppies, so we had a Puppy Play Date! Of course I could not help but take photos of precious little Ellie. She’s too cute for words, so I’ll let the photos do the talking. This is Ellie:

Pomeranian-Portrait-Smiling-Ellie

Adorable, right? To say there is a size difference between Ellie and Indy would be stating the obvious. You can tell by the way Ellie is slightly leaning away from Indy in the photo below that she wasn’t too sure about my giant Aussiedoodle. I admit, I bribed them to sit for most of these photos with some treats. I broke out the good stuff for these photos.
