Janessa and I go way back – all the way back to 2008. We’ve truly been friends since the moment we first met. So when she started talking about her dream of having engagement photos at a waterfall, I couldn’t help but jump in with suggestions. It’s no secret that Tennessee has some of the most beautiful waterfalls around! After extensive research, we settled on Carmac Falls at Evin’s Mill. The waterfall is gorgeous and the lure of having basically a private waterfall (for a fee, of course) was too good to pass down. Of course, there was a bit of hike to get to the falls. I, for one, was… Keep Reading
A few months ago, Steph had posted in a photography group on Facebook that she would be in Nashville in early August and was looking for someone to exchange a photo session with. I responded, and a beautiful friendship was born. The day we were to meet and take photos finally arrived. We had yet to decide on location, but we had decided to drag our significant others into our shenanigans. That same week, the Williamson County Fair was going on. It’s basically just down the road from our little house, making it impossible to miss! I had been wanting to create portraits at a county fair for a while,… Keep Reading
Now that the excitement from today’s total solar eclipse has finally passed, I’ve got some new excitement for your newsfeed: in-home maternity photos! Cassie is one of the very first friends I made when I moved to Tennessee. I was so excited when she asked me to take some in-home couples photos of her and Cory! What makes these photos even more unique is the fact that they are living in a remodeled camper on their newly acquired land! Living on this land is not just an adventure for these two, it’s a lifestyle they had to adjust to due to something that is becoming more and more well known:… Keep Reading
Meet Camille, a musician in Nashville, Tennessee with a heart of gold! I met Camille a few years ago at a mutual friend’s bachelorette party (whose recent sunflower maternity session you can see here!) Camille and I had talked about photos a few times over the years, but recently we finally made it happen! I think both of us are so glad we did! The resulting photos perfectly expressed both of our visions!
I moved to Nashville over three years ago, or more accurately, I moved to Franklin, Tennessee. The combination of being a homebody and working in the opposite direction of Nashville admittedly has kept me from experiencing a lot of the Nashville culture. This year I’ve made an effort to experience more of this amazing, popular city that I call home! 12th South Ave. is one of the areas I’ve visited a lot this summer. I will admit most of those trips were night trips to indulge in some of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream after an evening out at the movies or on a date; however, even in the daylight there is… Keep Reading
Jessica and I go way back. In fact, both of us met our husbands through the same band (shout out to Pioneer for being a band of stellar, quality men!) When my husband and I moved to Tennessee, I found comfort in the fact that Jessica and Josh already resided in Nashville. It’s great to move to an area where you already have friends! When we found out they were expecting, we were thrilled. When Jessica asked me to be her photographer, I was even MORE excited! Of course I wanted to photograph my beautiful friend with her baby bump! In a nearby town, Murfreesboro, we found Batey Farms, which just happened to… Keep Reading
Welcome to the world, Braskey Clark! You may not recognize him here, but I’ve photographed Braskey once before. The baby bump featured in this session was once little baby Braskey. Doesn’t he look so precious in his jeans and suspenders? Braskey’s little blue blanket bundle (try saying that five times fast) was set on top of an old Chevy truck. This truck has a special meaning though. You see, this truck belonged to his great-grandfather, who also happens to be his namesake. Braskey’s mama, Hope, contacted me to photograph Braskey and crew with this antique truck. Of course a truck this special deserves to have a few photos on its… Keep Reading
Originally, Elaine and Will had planned on traveling down to Nashville, Tennessee for their engagement photos. Of course I was perfectly okay with this because it’s local to me! However, when Elaine found out I was traveling up to Indiana for a week, we ended up moving her session up! She’s my favorite kind of client – too excited to wait for her photos!! We met on a Saturday morning in the Morgan-Monroe Forestry at Bryant Creek Lake. The forestry is one of my favorite locations in my hometown. It seems no matter how many sessions I have here, I always find new areas within the forestry perfect for photos!
Home can be a confusing word for me. It can mean “home” as in where I live, or it can also be referring to Indiana. Most of my childhood was spent in Indiana and it’s where my parents currently live. It truly feels like home when I visit, so of course I love when I have clients in Indiana! This photo session was one such occasion. Joy and Tim wanted their engagement photos to be taken on the Indiana University campus. Joy and I brainstormed tons of ideas over e-mail months before the photo shoot. I love when my clients bring new ideas to the table! Joy was a leasing… Keep Reading
Some of you may not know that in addition to photography, I work full-time as an Art Teacher. Angelica Essary is a first grade teacher at one of the two schools I currently teach at. Teaching already requires a big heart, but hers may be the biggest, most welcoming heart I have ever known. During my first semester at East Hickman Elementary School, I learned that Angelica and her husband, Tony, had taken in one of her students. During the past three years, my coworkers and I have all watched her family fall in love with this boy, Will, more and more. Finally, on April 19th, 2017, Will was officially… Keep Reading
