A few months ago, Steph had posted in a photography group on Facebook that she would be in Nashville in early August and was looking for someone to exchange a photo session with. I responded, and a beautiful friendship was born. The day we were to meet and take photos finally arrived. We had yet to decide on location, but we had decided to drag our significant others into our shenanigans.
That same week, the Williamson County Fair was going on. It’s basically just down the road from our little house, making it impossible to miss! I had been wanting to create portraits at a county fair for a while, but my attempts were not playing out. I have to give credit to Dan, my husband, for suggesting the fair as the setting for this session. Not only did I finally get to take my fair photos, but we also got some amazing portraits taken of us by Steph/Hazel Lining Photography!
Both parties were relieved that we all got along (aka none of us were creepers!). We hit it off right away. Jordan and Steph were complete naturals in front of the camera! I mean, look at that chemistry!! 100% would hang out with this couple again.
While I did not grow up going to fairs (my mother deemed them too dangerous, and she’s kind of right!), I still feel nostalgic anytime I find myself at a carnival setting. It’s like stepping foot into your hometown or in an old movie. All the fun lights, food, prizes, and of course, people watching!
Obviously, one of the staple attractions of county fairs is the ferris wheel! Whose heart doesn’t leap in excitement when spotting one of these while driving down the road? While we did not get on the ferris wheel, or any of the other rides, I did want to heavily feature it in some of the photos! Again, Steph and Jordan are the cutest. No surprise there.
I feel like we probably covered the entire fair grounds twice over. There was so much to see, eat, and experience! We definitely got all of our steps in for the day.
Below is one of my favorite images. We were up on a hill, technically in the middle of the two main fair areas. I love the way they’re looking at each other and all the pretty carnival lights behind them. So whimsical!!
I remember quite clearly getting sick on a ride similar to this when I was younger. Usually I avoid these swings like the plague! Taking a photo in front of it couldn’t hurt anything though, right?!
Again, I have to give credit to my husband! He came up with the idea of photographing Steph and Jordan playing this water gun game. Some of the cutest interactions, am I right?!
We ended the evening with a sweet treat – ice cream cones! A visit to the county fair is not complete without indulging in something sugary or deep fried after all.
In short, I highly recommend visiting your local fair and dragging along a photographer (I mean, I know I’m willing to go again!). Thanks so much Jordan and Steph for hanging out with us! Hopefully we’ll meet again!
